Bubbletip anemones, or BTA’s are colorful additions to any reef aquarium!
Reef safe, with caution, they are often found mixed with corals, but can deliver a sting if they roam too closely to an aggressive coral like a torch
If allowed to roam, powerheads and overflows should be protected to prevent anemones from getting pulled into either. Wavemakers are a common killer of roaming anemones
Can be paired with clownfish and become a host to a clown pair. Do not allow a small anemone to be hosted by a fully grown clownfish. Clownfish dive into and rub on their host anemones, which can stress a small anemone.
Size: 3-4” across
Light: moderate to high light: 150-300 PAR. Acclimate anemones to high light. Place low, and let them walk to the right spot, or box them with macro algae to allow them to cover themselves if light is too high.
Flow: moderate to high pulsing or random flow. Keep detritus off their oral disc without blasting them with constant direct current. Protect anemones from wavemakers
Temperament: Semi Aggressive - may walk among corals with little issues, but can sting aggressive corals
