Chalice Coral Eating - Timelapse
It can be hard to watch these corals eat in real time, they move slowly! However, when sped up, it’s quite a thing to watch!
Chalice corals are responsive to feeding, and a fun LPS coral to grow, with many hungry mouths to feed.
Chalice corals are moderate to intermediate care level. Consumes Alkalinity, Calcium, Magnesium and trace elements out of the water column to grow and thrive. Requires monitoring of basic chemistry, sensitive to sudden swings, require regular feeding for best health and color
Light: Low to moderate light: 60-140 PAR. Acclimate slowly!
Flow: low indirect flow. Keep detritus from settling on the chalice. Too much flow may cause tissue recession and skeleton exposure.
Temperament: Aggressive! Capable of releasing sweeper tentacles, and casting nets of mesenterial filaments which are highly volatile to neighboring corals. Give them space, and watch closely.
This is NOT a WYSIYG Coral.
